The growing number of criminals
I’ve always understood that when there are fewer and fewer lawful ways for people to earn a living, more and more of the population will become desperate enough to turn to unlawful ways. Many will actually start preying upon the law abiding.
At the present moment, the UN wants the United States to sign a gun-ban treaty [Forbes].
For many years I naively supported such an idea. But, after the economic crash of 2008 and the foreclosure crisis that followed, I found myself listening more closely to the arguments against gun-ban laws.
This has been somewhat of a hot topic right here in Columbus, Ohio (where I live) during Mayor Coleman’s term in office. Columbus has a relatively high crime rate that Coleman may or may not be able to curtail as unemployment numbers grow. [See in bold above.]
Mayor Coleman has taken an interesting position on gun control. While he promotes it for the general public, he insures that he is personally protected by his very own armed guards.
An NBC4 investigation finds that over the past four years, the City of Columbus has spent $1,008,198 to protect Mayor Michael Coleman, including nearly $250,000 in overtime paid out to three police officers assigned to protect the mayor on a full-time basis on weekdays, weeknights and weekends.
What many folks are unaware of is that the US Supreme Court ruled in 2005 that the Police do not have a Constitutional Duty to Protect us. So we can’t assume the police will always come to our aid when we need some protection. Let’s also not forget that there is a healthy black market for guns that any crook worth his weight in salt knows how to access.
Now, if local governments would provide all of us law abiding folks with armed body guards like Mayor Coleman has, most of us would agree to government’s desire to take away guns. Our own personal body guards would keep our families safe from harm and we could all go on our merry ways.
As the 99% of the population recognizes that they are sliding more and more into economic desperation, they start looking more closely at the 1% (Washington/Wall Street) that have looted America. This naturally makes the 1% (and the governments who have colluded with them) more and more nervous. So what did those most guilty of looting the country do? They gave money to the police department to protect them from the Occupy Wall Street people.
NYPD Receives 4.6 million from Wall Street
So the 1% – who stole all of the money – hire police and body guards to protect them from the 99%. Meanwhile the peaceful law abiding people – that are part of the 99% – are going to increasingly face a growing number of desperate and dangerous criminals.
Did you know that the Brits, the Australians, and the Canadians (who were all forced to give up their guns) have issued warnings to us ‘yanks’? We owe it to our families to at least listen to what they have to say. [links to their video clips are on this page]
Two armed men broke into my grandchildren’s babysitter’s house (which is in Columbus). They pointed their guns at my 8 year old grandchildren and told them to sit at the table, keep their hands flat on the table and keep their mouths shut, while the armed men robbed the house. No one was injured, however my grandchildren haven’t been the same since. And, no the police did not catch the armed burglars. They didn’t even try.
Former Chairman of Amnesty International, Attorney Mark Benenson, explained what will happen when the general population is forced to give up their guns ” . . . it will be a safer world for tyrannical governments and a safer world for the criminals who won’t give up their firearms. It will certainly not be a safer world for ordinary people.”
Let’s not let allow the Denver shooting to be used to justify gun ban laws. James Corbett brilliantly explains why that is happening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW3qO46y2VU
Went to the Ohio State Fair yesterday. At the entrance all had to agree to let the State Police examine the contents of our purses (as well as go through metal detectors) to get in. We already live in a police state right here in Columbus, Ohio. See: The Militarized Police State in America
It is becoming apparent that communities are going to have to organize to insure their ability 1) to protect themselves and their families from criminals and 2) to de-militarize their local police . . . or prepare themselves to be victimized by both the criminals AND the police. Because Police Brutality is increasing across the country as well.
