We have a Congress that turns a blind eye to criminal actions by the president, vice president, and executive branch, including violations of US statutory law against torture, violations of US statutory law against spying on Americans without warrants, and violations of every legal protection in the Bill of Rights, from the right of privacy to habeas corpus.
In Westchester County, New York, New Castle Councilman Michael Wolfensohn called the police on 13-year olds Andrew DeMarchis and Kevin Graff for selling cupcakes, cookies, brownies and Rice Krispie treats in a Chappaqua park. The kids were guilty of being vendors on town property without a license.
The kids were making about $100 a day and had capitalist dreams of starting a business. But regulation stopped them cold. A license costs between $150 and $350 for a scant two hours, and a $1 million insurance certificate is also required. So banksters, who were able to purchase with campaign contributions, and who knows how much in under-the-table-payoffs, the repeal of the depression-era banking regulations and then some, are scot free after having robbed taxpayers of bailout funds and their pension retirements. But the cupcake business of two 13-year olds is closed down.
For the most part Mr. Paul Craig Roberts deserves the respect he is given by many. His strong sense of moral indignation regarding the tragedies that are ongoing and appear to be more and more blatant each day seem to indicate his heart is in the right place.
However, we have to asks ourselves whether or not Mr. Roberts is ‘deluded’ or is he a ‘deluder’. If he is ‘deluded’ he is in good company with the majority of the population. But, if he is a ‘deluder’ he is merely aiding in the nefarious coverup of the longest ongoing fraud that has ever been perpetuated against the American population.
Mr. Roberts accurately observed that the Executive branch of our ‘government’ is acting exactly like ‘the office of the dictator’. But he doesn’t mention the War and Emergency Powers Act that actually ‘granted’ the Executive branch that authority.
“Senate Report 93-549” (The United States has been under dictatorial control since March 9, 1933. Report of the Special Committee on the Termination of the National Emergency, Senate Report 93-549, War and Emergency Powers Acts, November 19, 1973. “Foreward: Since March 9, 1933, the United States has been in a state of declared national emergency…These proclamations give force to 470 provisions of Federal law. These hundreds of statutes delegate to the President extraordinary powers, ordinarily exercised by the Congress, which affect the lives of American citizens in a host of all-encompassing manners. This vast range of powers, taken together, confer enough authority to rule the country without reference to normal Constitutional processes. Under the powers delegated by these statutes, the President may: seize property; organize and control the means of production; seize commodities; assign military forces abroad; institute martial law; seize and control all transportation and communication; regulate the operation of private enterprise; restrict travel; and, in a plethora of particular ways, control the lives of all American citizens.”) ( http://www.scratchinpost.net/barefootbob/war_ep1.html)
Mr. Roberts also appropriately expressed indignation that two children were penalized for selling cupcakes ‘without a license or permit’. However, he didn’t explain that city ‘councilmen’ actually work for a for-profit municipal corporation (listed as a business on Dun and Bradstreet) which allows them to pass unconstitutional ‘rules and regulations’ to increase the profitability of their ‘corporations’. These ‘rules and regulations’ apply to all who try to establish a ‘local business’ irregardless of their age.
Is Mr. Roberts ‘deluded’ because he is unaware of or unwilling to accept these facts . . . or is he, as a former Editor of the Wall Street Journal, a part of the orchestrated opposition assigned with the task of deluding the public as to the real nature of USA INC?
The issues that Mr. Robert expressed concern/dismay over would far more likely be resolved by the nullification of the unratified 14th Amendment by state legislators than by his ongoing exposés. After all, the “United States” is merely a falsely legitimized corporate crime syndicate posing as a government! Things will not get better for the folks living in our country until a ‘de jure’ government Of the People, By the People and For the People is restored.
Paul Craig Roberts gets a lot of credit however for helping to expose the truth about the relationship between the United States, the rogue ‘government’ known as Israel, and AIPAC – Israel’s powerful and Anti-American Washington lobby.
