The latest trade agreement, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, has been negotiated behind closed doors by the multi-national corporations and their ‘lawyers’. As you will hear in the Democracy Now interview (link below), Congress has been unable to stop this and basically was not even included in the talks. So, this is a corporate global takeover constructed by the trade representatives of the Executive Branch (Obama put in the same ones Clinton used for NAFTA) of our ‘country’.
From Democracy Now (6-14-12): Breaking ’08 Pledge, Leaked Trade Doc Shows Obama Wants to Help Corporations Avoid Regulations
A draft agreement leaked Wednesday shows the Obama administration is pushing a secretive trade agreement that could vastly expand corporate power and directly contradict a 2008 campaign promise by President Obama. A U.S. proposal for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact between the United States and eight Pacific nations would allow foreign corporations operating in the U.S. to appeal key regulations to an international tribunal. The body would have the power to override U.S. law and issue penalties for failure to comply with its ruling.
To make matters worse, Obama (in the footsteps of Bush, Clinton, & Bush) has been assisting in the expansion of NATO on our own soil. In fact Chicago recently hosted a NATO conference and Tampa hosted a NATO exercise.
Steve Lendman (Chicagoan and host of Progressive Radio News Hour) interviewed Project Sensored’s Philip Phillips on June 3, 2012. They revealed what NATO has become and how it is now intertwined with the corporate industrial/military complex.
According to Phillips, “The US/NATO military industrial media complex is charging forward to protect the transnational corporate class of the world” [from the awakening 99%].
Steve Lendman has a unique perspective because not only has has researched NATO, he recently lived through “Life in Occupied Chicago“.
“NATO’s a global menace, a killing machine, a weapon of mass destruction threatening humanity, an alliance for war, conquest and dominance, not peace.”
NATO Special Operations: The Beginning of a Global Army? By Brandon Smith, Alt-Market.com
“Not long ago the very idea of American military men and women cross-training soldiers from other nations and engaging in multinational military units was treated as a more covert affair. Yes, it has occurred many times, especially since the formation of the UN and the Korean War, in which American soldiers had to endure the dreadful leadership of foreign UN personnel. However, what was once a state secret, like the School of the Americas, is now widely and openly admitted policy. At this very moment, thousands of Russian troops are stationed within U.S. borders and are being trained using American facilities and American tax dollars.”
Militarization of law enforcement as a response to a growing movement to reclaim and restore our communities
Here is a quote from Michael Shuman, author of “Going Local: Creating Self-Reliant Communities in a Global Age (2000)”.
“What makes Going Local radical is neither anti-capitalist rhetoric (which it does not have), nor the immediate measures it proposes in themselves. What makes it radical is the underlying goal of shifting power from rootless corporations to people in communities. While the first localized reforms may seem to pose no threat to the system, if they develop into a popular movement and spread across the country, they will provoke heavy corporate resistance and, if the movement does not back down, a revolutionary crisis. At that point, peaceful coexistence between the corporate economy and the community economy will end and there will be a struggle over which form will prevail.”
We are now in that struggle and the global corporatocracy appears to be arming itself on our soil: 1st the Executive Branch’s Dept of Homeland Security in our counties, now NATO in our cities. It makes perfect sense why there is growing talk of states seceding from the Washington, District of Corporations government and reclaiming their right to self-govern. The line is being drawn and the battle is well underway between We the People and the dead legal fiction known as The Corporation! Let’s hope the men holding the weapons will chose the people over the Central Banksters and their Corporatocracy!
